4BitGod - the viewer for pictures of C64 4Bit GoDot format
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The program shows pictures of the C64 image processing software "GoDot". GoDot is able to provide an own color for each single pixel, which a C64 can't present on screen because of limited hardware capabilities. 4Bit GoDot pictures are in fact 16 color 320x200 hires multicolor pictures. In addition, the colors are ordered to an optimal sequence of shades of gray. 4bits always look very notable in gray mode, especially when created for this purpose.

This Visual Basic program is a first attempt of the author, you should be slightly patient. It is a bit slowly. Installing 4bitgod.exe, you are recommended to place the file "dot.bmp" into the very same directory. It is a dummy picture loaded to insure a 256 colored display. You should as well have "vbrun300.dll" installed to your windows directory.

All you've got to do is to transfer 4Bit pictures to a PC disk, there's no other preparation required. You can transport the necessary material to PC e.g. by "Big Blue Reader" and then rejoice in the amazingly good pictures of this old fashioned computer.

Have fun!
